» pondwriter - pruning shrubs and trees

Do you find that most gardeners have no concept of how to prune a tree or shrub? So lacking the know-how, they just don't prune and then wonder why their gardens don't thrive.

For some reason people seem afraid of pruning - like it is some mystical science!

We had roses when I was growing up, and my dad showed me how to prune one, then watched me prune 2 others, then said ' there's 70 more to go - remember you cannot kill them, but you can sure make them look a mess, if you don't do it right!' So I learnt early on that it is not brain surgery!!!
